PBG Web Design recently created a video eCommerce site for Ovation Fitness, a retailer of door gym fitness equipment / physical therapy exercise equipment, and recommended the use of video for product sales.

By Featuring YouTube or Vimeo video eCommerce of products, eCommerce merchants can use innovative ways to increase sales and track the significant number of interactions from videos on a site.

New research from Google shopping trends in 2012 has found just how profoundly videos have changed the shopping landscape for eCommerce. Web video is no longer optional for business owners. It has become mandatory. Consider these statistics:

  • Visitors are 144% more likely to purchase a product or service after seeing a video.
  • 4 in 10 shoppers purchased an product as a direct result of watching a video online.
  • A web page with video is 53 times more likely to achieve a page one listing on Google.
  • Videos in search results have a 41% higher click through rate than text results.
  • And Google rewards web pages where visitors stay longer. On average, visitors stay 2 minutes longer on web pages with videos.
  • Today, nearly 1 in 3 shoppers use YouTube to shop.
  • About 7 percent of search-engine-marketing sales usually channel through YouTube.

Think about it! If someone watches a product video … the longer they will stay on your site. And the longer they stay … the more likely they will buy the product. So it’s no surprise that video tops traditional media and encouraged purchases. Can you really afford NOT to use product videos on your eCommerce site (especially if your competitors are)?”
